This laboratory is a physics-based laboratory (field) in the Department of Mathematical Physics, Mathematical Engineering Course, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University, and consists of about 20 diverse members.

Our research interests include chaos, statistical physics, complex systems, financial markets, earthquakes, volcanoes, security (chaotic cryptography), chaotic communications, and chaotic Monte Carlo simulations. In addition, we have made several concrete proposals to directly return the results of our research to society through industry-academia collaboration activities based on related research.

Example: OHB (One Hour Before) implementation proposal (presented to the world at the 2019 World Disaster Reduction Forum in Sendai) – Currently, in response to the 2022 Turkey earthquake, UN specialized agencies and other countries such as Indonesia are considering implementing the OHB system worldwide, and are striving to elucidate the physical mechanisms of electromagnetic precursor phenomena before a major earthquake occurs to achieve even higher accuracy. In addition, as an alternative to the efficient market hypothesis, which is the basic model for financial markets, he proposed the chaotic market hypothesis, which takes into account correlations, and will present this to the world (2021). Elucidation of chaotic market hypothesis based on ergodic theory.
